Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm in Stroudsburg holds its 52nd annual Harvest Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10-11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. It’s the farm’s largest festival. Admission is $18 for adults and $10 for ages 3 to 12, with proceeds supporting the nonprofit museum. Pets and smoking aren’t allowed.
Visitors walk through a working 19th-century farm where interpreters practice the trades families relied on, including candle dipping, scrapple making, spinning and weaving. Other stops include a one-room school presentation and a Civil War encampment. There’s folk entertainment, wagon rides, a quilt raffle, refreshments, activities for children and a pumpkin patch.
The farmstead in Hamilton Township, Monroe County, dates to 1765, so it was already a working farm during the American Revolution. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1973 and operates as a museum of Pennsylvania German farm life in the 1800s.
