Denny Hamlin has won more NASCAR Cup Series races at Pocono Raceway than anyone in history, and on Sunday he stretched that record to eight.
Hamlin held off Tyler Reddick by 1.678 seconds to win The Great American Getaway 400 presented by VISITPA, the 16th points race of the 2026 season, contested over 160 laps on the 2.5-mile Tricky Triangle. The finish came down to fuel, with both drivers managing what was left in the tank over the closing laps.
The win was Hamlin’s fourth of the season and his third consecutive, following victories at Nashville Superspeedway and Michigan International Speedway. He had never won three straight races in a career that now includes 64 Cup victories. He also started from the pole.
William Byron finished third, followed by John Hunter Nemechek, Kyle Larson, Erik Jones, Chris Buescher, Ross Chastain, Ty Gibbs and Ryan Blaney. Larson’s second-place start marked his 10th top-10 qualifying effort of the season and his seventh in 19 starts at Pocono. Thirty-eight cars entered the weekend.
Chase Briscoe came in as defending winner, having taken the 2025 race with Hamlin second.
Goodyear brought a new right-side tire to the track this weekend, pairing the compound used at Pocono last year with a construction the company has run at several intermediate tracks this season.
Pocono has hosted NASCAR since the early 1970s. The triangular layout has three distinct corners and long straights, which is why setup work at Long Pond has always been its own puzzle. The track ran two Cup weekends a year from 1982 through 2019 before shifting to a single weekend, and the second date moved to a track near St. Louis in 2022.
