Road to Relief: Budget-Friendly Fuel Sets the Tone for the New Year


As 2024 begins, drivers across Pennsylvania are ringing in the new year with affordable gas. The statewide average has crept down to $3.39 per gallon, showcasing an 18-cent decline from last month and a 24-cent reduction over the past year.

In Northeastern Pennsylvania, local fuel costs echo these statewide trends. At $3.34, drivers in East Stroudsburg are saving 11 cents on each gallon of gas compared to last month. In the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre–Hazleton area, the average gallon cost of $3.40 reflects a 17-cent drop from last month. Over the past year, pump prices in East Stroudsburg and the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre–Hazleton area have fallen 25 cents and 22 cents, respectively.
