Staff Writer

According to new Bureau of Labor Statistics data, Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate is down 2.1% in July from numbers a year ago. From July 2021 to July 2022, the state’s unemployment dropped from 6.4 percent to 4.3 percent. Additionally, unemployment is down by .2 percent since June 2022.

Regarding jobs, Pennsylavnia added a total of 31,000 non-farm jobs between June 2022 and July 2022. The state has also added over 200,000 new jobs since July 2021. In the Scranton Area, 10,400 nonfarm jobs have been added since that same time.

The rise in new jobs and decrease in unemployment are great signs for the future of the Northeast Pennsylvania economy.
